Job description

The Hospice and Palliative Physician (HPMP) is assigned to the Inpatient service and is supervised by the Medical Director. The HPMP provides direct patient care for hospice and palliative patients in the setting assigned. The HPMP supports and coordinates care with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) including participation in care planning meetings as the Medical Director’s designee and performs other administrative functions, including certifications, recertifications, pre-authorizations and completion of medical forms and death certificates. The HPMP participates in education, outreach and leadership activities when needed and may be assigned additional administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director.

Provides leadership and oversight to inpatient palliative care team at assigned primary site.
Provides medical consultation to hospice IDGs.
Participates in educating medical students, residents, and fellows.
Provides education to staff through informal consultations and educational offerings.
Maintains current state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in palliative medicine.
Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain competency.
Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of the organization.

The physician will lead a team of providers, including two nurse practitioners and a social worker.
BE or BC in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Hospice, palliative care, geriatric, hospitalist, or pc experience preferred.
Licensed or willing to become licensed in Indiana - additional licensure in Kentucky is a plus.

Monday-Friday day schedule.
Salary DOE, + 10% annual bonus + additional bonus eligibility (25K )for on-call rotation.
