Practice Setting
- Hospital-based Orthopedic Surgery service
- Level III Trauma Center, 127-bed acute care hospital
- Position open due to growth and service expansion
- Collegial orthopedic team
- PAs assigned to a pool of 2–3 surgeons
Schedule & Call
- Shift Type: Days
- Schedule: Day shift with on-call
- Weekends: Occasional
- Call: Shared equitably; includes weekday, weekend, holiday, night, and 24-hour call
- Schedule may rotate based on service needs
Employment Details
- Full-time, hospital-employed position

Key Responsibilities
Surgical assisting, ED consults, floor rounding, and pre-/post-operative care
- Serve as primary orthopedic call for ED and inpatient units
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams
- Interpret diagnostic and laboratory results
- Develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans within scope of practice
- Manage and discharge hospitalized orthopedic patients
- Dictate discharge summaries, H&Ps, and progress notes
- Participate in daily and multidisciplinary rounds
- Utilize EMR for documentation, order entry, and quality initiatives
Diagnostic & Procedural Duties:
- Order and perform diagnostics including X-ray, CT, MRI, EMG, EKG, and bone scans
- Perform procedures such as:
- Digital blocks and regional anesthesia
- Joint/bursa aspirations and injections
- Closed reductions of fractures/dislocations
- Brace, cast, and splint applications
- Minor outpatient procedures (wound care, debridement, I&D, tendon repair)
- Percutaneous pinning, K-wire and hardware removal
- Surgical Responsibilities
- First assist in surgery
- Tissue closure and application of appliances
- Conduct rounds and write orders in collaboration with surgeons

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 75 lbs)
- Adequate vision, hearing, fine motor skills, and stamina
-Exposure to blood and bodily fluids (standard precautions required)
- Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $160,000 (40 hrs/week, based on experience)
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000
