Job Overview
Specialty: PA/NP - Cardiovascular / Cardiothoracic Surgery
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40-hour work week
Call Profile: 5–6 nights of call per month; 1 Weekend per month (Emergency surgery only—no rounding or consults)
Team Structure: Work alongside 3 Surgeons, 3 OR PAs, and 2 dedicated floor NPs
EMR: EPIC
Clinical & Surgical Scope
This role focuses heavily on O.R. support and team-based patient management:
Surgical Assisting: Weekly O.R. time performing First and Second Assist on CABG, Valve, and Aortic cases (No vascular).
EVH Expertise: Proficiency in EVH (Maquet) is required.
Rounding: Team-based rounding on 6–8 patients per day. The floor team maintains primary responsibility for these patients during the week.
Clinic: Minimal clinic responsibilities, primarily when not in the O.R.
Requirements
Experience: Strong O.R. First Assist background. RAH experience is preferred but not required.
Certification: Board Certified. RNFA certification is required ONLY for candidates whose First Assist experience began after 1/1/2016.
Licensure: Active North Carolina (NC) license preferred, but the client is willing to wait for the right candidate to obtain a license. (We cover your license)
Credentials: ACLS and DEA required.
Facility & Credentialing
Environment: Acute Care Hospital with a collaborative "team-first" culture.
Credentialing: Estimated 90-day timeframe.
