Coverage Type: Absence/Vacancy Coverage and PRN

Facility & Practice Setting:
Single shared radiology and emergency department serving both adult and pediatric hospitals. Inpatient practice setting with hospital-based support staff.
EMR/PACS: Epic (required)

Schedule & Coverage:
Primary coverage includes weekday onsite day shifts from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (9 hours). Coverage needs may include day shifts, onsite call shifts, remote on-call coverage, and weekend coverage as needed. PRN availability is strongly preferred.

Weekend Call Responsibilities:
Coverage window is Saturday or Sunday from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Reads include all pediatric inpatient and ER studies, consisting primarily of plain films with approximately 15% ultrasound, CT, and MRI. No nuclear medicine. Typical volume is 60–80 studies per day. Initial workload includes overnight studies plus morning film load (approximately 3 continuous hours), followed by intermittent reads throughout the day with check-ins every 30–60 minutes. Radiologist availability is required for technologist questions, outside study reviews, and urgent pediatric fluoroscopic procedures (non-interventional).

After 6:00 PM, inpatient consult responsibility continues until StatRad assumes coverage at 11:00 PM. ER films after 6:00 PM are covered by the adult ER radiologist, with occasional overlap. While not continuously workstation-based, the overall time and consult responsibility equates to a full weekday shift.

Weeknight Call:
Inpatient consults from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM. Emergent pediatric fluoroscopy coverage from 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM.

Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
Double Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Pediatric Radiology. Completion of an accredited 3-year radiology residency and Pediatric Radiology fellowship. Active, unrestricted California medical license. Epic experience required. Completely clean background and malpractice history with no claims and no disciplinary actions. Any background or malpractice issues will disqualify candidates, as clean files are required for emergency privileging.
