Job Description:
The Staff Orthopedic Surgeon will provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care to patients across the continuum, including evaluation, treatment, surgery, and follow-up. Responsibilities include:
• Diagnose and evaluate orthopedic conditions through physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, MRI, and CT scans
• Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing both surgical and non-surgical approaches
• Perform a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, including joint replacements, fracture repairs, arthroscopy, and other orthopedic interventions
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring patient safety, recovery, and optimal outcomes
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including primary care providers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation specialists
• Participate in rotating on-call coverage as part of a full-time orthopedic service
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient medical records, including documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, and surgical outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans
• Stay current with advancements in orthopedic surgery and apply evidence-based practices to clinical decision-making
• Participate in continuing medical education, professional development activities, conferences, and workshops
• Adhere to ethical, professional, and regulatory standards including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and hospital policies
• Proficiency in orthopedic surgical techniques and procedures, including familiarity with the latest advancements
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills to effectively assess and treat orthopedic conditions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients and collaborate with healthcare teams
• Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and patient safety
• Dedication to ongoing professional development and staying updated with emerging trends and research in orthopedic surgery
Compensation and Benefits:
• Annual Salary Range: $300,000 to $360,000 (in accordance with Vermont Act 155)
• Compensation is based on relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness
• Final compensation to be determined during the hiring process
