Anesthesiologist – DeKalb, IL

Position Overview

* Start Date: January 2027
* Assignment: Ongoing, with a 6+ month commitment
* Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
* EMR: Epic
* Credentialing: Approximately 90 days
* Orientation: 1–2 days
* Previous Northwestern employees are not eligible for submission

Schedule & Call

* Call is not required
* Optional pager call available for interested providers
* Weekday pager call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
* Weekend pager call: 24 hours
* 1-hour response time required

Clinical Details

* 9 anesthetizing locations daily:

* 5 main ORs
* 2 endoscopy suites
* 2 satellite ORs
* Coverage across the main hospital and 2 satellite ambulatory facilities
* One satellite is approximately 30 minutes south and operates 1 room Monday–Thursday
* The other satellite is approximately 5 minutes away and operates 1 room Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
* Mix of supervised and solo cases
* Supervision ratio: 1:3
* Case mix includes general, OB, endoscopy, orthopedics, and regional blocks
* Minimal pediatric cases; primarily patients age 2+ for simple ENT procedures

Requirements

* Minimum 2 years of experience
* Epic experience required
* Experience with general, OB, endoscopy, orthopedics, and regional blocks
* Illinois-licensed or IMLC-eligible candidates
* Full-time coverage and schedule flexibility strongly preferred

* Local candidates will be prioritized for initial searches.
* Out-of-state candidates may be considered if they can provide full-time coverage and flexibility.
