Surgery Cardiovascular PA Position in Ann Arbor, MI

Salary: Negotiable

Primary work setting is the operating room, where the individual will spend the majority of their time

Responsibilities include:

First and second assisting in cardiac surgeries

Conduit harvesting

Evaluation and expansion of minimally invasive equipment and surgical approaches

Ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of cardiac surgery experience

Strong interpersonal skills and high level of technical expertise in the operating room are required

The Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant exercises autonomy in medical decision-making

Provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult cardiac patients

Manages patients with complex, acute, critical, and chronic cardiac conditions

Collects and assists in the interpretation of:

Diagnostic and laboratory test results

Radiographic procedures

Clinical studies

Analyzes, compares, and evaluates various courses of action

Authorized to make independent decisions on matters of significance, within scope of responsibility and without immediate supervision

Required Qualifications*
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.

EVH and radial artery harvesting

Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.

ACLS and BLS certification

Current DEA registration required

State of Michigan Controlled Substance License

3-5 years cardiac surgery experience

Currently participating intraoperative portion of cardiac surgery.

Work Schedule
Coverage as part of the team is 7 days per week, 24 hours per day with on-call responsibilities.

100% operating room, calls are to be divided among the team.
