This established medical center is a leading regional healthcare facility offering a comprehensive cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery program. The facility operates a robust 4-surgeon, 4-PA practice with approximately 16 ICU beds, providing advanced surgical care including robotic-assisted procedures and complex cardiac interventions within a well-supported, collaborative team environment.

Advanced Practice - Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery
Job Details:
- Must be able to cover all required shifts beginning January 11, 7am through ongoing rotations
- Schedule: 7am-5pm with call coverage from 5pm-7am; weekend call runs Friday 5pm through Monday 7am
- Call rotation: every third day during the week and every fourth weekend
- Work setting includes the OR and ICU, with potential stepdown patient coverage; no clinic component
- Perform morning rounds including daily progress notes and medication management
- Order and interpret appropriate labs and diagnostic studies as needed
- Conduct consults, history and physicals, and discharge patients with complete discharge summaries
- Manage and remove chest tubes
- Attend multidisciplinary rounds when on call
- First assist in all surgical procedures including Robotic Lobectomy and Thymectomy (DaVinci Xi Robot), Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, Aortic Valve Replacement/TAVR, Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement, Thoracotomy and VATS, Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation, Aortic Dissection Repair, and ECMO
- Perform endoscopic vein and radial harvesting using Maquet System (Hemopro 2 Vasoview) and prepare harvested conduit
- Place appropriate postoperative orders and close sternotomy per surgeon preference
- Weekday call responsibilities include finishing late cases, responding to CCU calls, and returning to hospital for emergency cases
- Weekend call responsibilities include rounding with the call surgeon, progress notes, chest tube management, discharging patients, receiving CCU calls, and availability to return for emergency cases
- Patient encounters per shift are variable
- BLS certification required
- Board certification required; clean history may qualify for expedited privileges
- Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60-90 days
- Must hold an active Washington State license or IMLC
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
