Clinician, Adult Women’s Residential Program

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Clinician provides trauma-informed substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment to women in a residential setting. This role includes clinical assessment, treatment planning, and individual, group, and family counseling for pregnant and or parenting women with children up to age five. The Clinician maintains an active caseload of up to eight residents and collaborates closely with program leadership and the Early Relational Health Clinician to support stability, recovery, and healthy family functioning. The Clinician promotes the Nurtured Heart Approach© to maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct intake assessments and complete all required clinical documentation
• Develop and maintain client-centered, recovery-oriented treatment plans
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling addressing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders
• Utilize trauma-informed, attachment-based, and motivational interviewing approaches
• Integrate parenting and attachment considerations into substance use treatment
• Provide crisis intervention and coordinate medical or psychiatric consultation as needed
• Participate in case presentations and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
• Coordinate discharge planning, referrals, and transitions to appropriate levels of care
• Collaborate with external agencies including DCP&P, probation, parole, and drug court
• Coach and support Residential Associates in meeting individualized resident needs
• Participate in program meetings, staff training, quality improvement, and research activities
• Maintain flexibility for rotating on-call responsibilities and evening or weekend hours

Compliance and Documentation
• Conduct standardized assessments and diagnostic evaluations using DSM criteria
• Determine level of care using ASAM PPC guidelines
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical records
• Review and update treatment plans throughout the episode of care
• Document all services, referrals, reassessments, and follow-up in the clinical record
• Comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in counseling, education, social work, or related field
• Active NJ licensure required (LAC or LSW); LPC or LCSW preferred
• Willingness to pursue LCADC or CADC credential within three years of employment
• Minimum of one year of experience in substance use treatment
• Experience working with high-risk populations in residential settings preferred
• Experience with cognitive behavioral approaches and motivational interviewing preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to changing community needs with professionalism and compassion
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license and ability to meet safe driving requirements
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
