Position Overview

Seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve as the onsite Medical Director for a high-acuity behavioral health program serving adolescents ages 10–17.

Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities

🩺 Serve as the onsite Medical Director
🩺 Majority of scheduled time dedicated to administrative oversight
🩺 Supervision of full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
🩺 Lead weekly clinical meetings and complex case staffing discussions
🩺 Complete time service orders and clinical oversight duties
🩺 Provide support and guidance to multidisciplinary treatment teams

Clinical Responsibilities

When covering for the NP, provider must be comfortable managing direct patient care responsibilities, including:

✔ Up to 4 admits/discharges per week
✔ Average daily census: 70–90% of 40-bed CSU
✔ Typical patient volume: 10–12 patients/day
✔ Ages seen: 10–17 years old
✔ Evaluations may last up to 1 hour
✔ Daily CSU rounds average approximately 10 minutes per patient
✔ Average length of stay: 45–60 days

On-Call Expectations

📞 Full-time call coverage preferred
📞 Worst-case schedule: every other week
📞 Approximately 8 calls/week (24/7 coverage)

Call responsibilities include:

Authorizing transfers to the ED
Medication approvals
Clinical support for treatment staff
Support Staff

You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team including:

👩‍⚕️ RNs
👨‍⚕️ FNPs
👩‍⚕️ Nursing Staff
🤝 Treatment Teams

Patient Population & Diagnoses

Experience treating adolescents with complex behavioral health needs is essential, including:

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder
PTSD
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD)
ADHD
Other behavioral and psychosocial stressors
Requirements

✔ Board Certified Psychiatry
✔ Child & Adolescent experience required
✔ Child Fellowship NOT required
✔ BC Adult Psychiatry with strong child/adolescent experience accepted
✔ Comfortable in both leadership and direct patient care settings
