Psychiatrist (Inpatient) – Locum Opportunity

Description:
An inpatient psychiatry opportunity is available starting around August 1 (with some flexibility) and continuing on an ongoing basis. This role follows a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule and offers a mix of inpatient care, emergency department evaluations, and hospital consults. The position involves treating both adult and adolescent populations in a collaborative, team-based environment.

About the facility:
This is an inpatient hospital-based psychiatry unit with a total of 24 beds, including a dedicated 6-bed adolescent unit and a general adult unit. The psychiatrist will also provide consult services to the emergency department and general hospital. The inpatient unit is located adjacent to the hospital, allowing for easy access between departments. Telemedicine may be utilized at times for consult support. The care team includes APPs (when available), social workers, and a discharge planning team.

Job Responsibilities:
• Provide inpatient psychiatric care for adult and adolescent patients
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and manage treatment plans
• Respond to emergency department consults
• Perform consult-liaison services for the general hospital
• Collaborate with APPs and interdisciplinary care teams
• Participate in on-call coverage (1–2 nights per 7-day rotation)
• Utilize EMR for documentation and patient management

Qualifications:
• Board Certified Psychiatrist
• Active medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred
• Comfortable treating patients across all age groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting

Working Hours:
• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shifts
• 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
• Typical schedule change day: Thursday
• 1–2 nights of call per 7-day assignment
