Trauma Therapist Needed for Complex- and Chronic-PTSD
Job description
We are a team of dedicated trauma therapists who resist industry trends in favor of deep, insight-oriented approaches to treating chronic- and complex-trauma in individuals who are longing for both the why and the how of trauma’s impact on their lives. We believe our patients are full, capable human beings – not just sets of symptoms…that the effectiveness of treatment is so much more than numbers on a chart – that it is fundamental change in how a person sees, experiences, and copes in the complicated context of their life.
We are looking for a like-minded clinician to join our team and professionally grow in the setting of critical thought, rich interdisciplinary dialogue, and passionate introspection. Clinicians who have been successful in our agency generally have a history of feeling disenchanted and unsatiated with status quo trauma treatments and are seeking more meaningful and nuanced therapeutic experiences. They are also individuals who seek a healthy balance between professional autonomy and the synergy of an intellectually curious team.
Our clinic: Desert Wise is a private, group practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are an intentionally small team – favoring quality over quantity in both team culture and patient care. Foundationally, Desert Wise specializes in trauma treatment for military members, veterans, and those who love them. This focus quickly drew in medical professionals, first responders, aviators, attorneys, and other individuals in high stakes occupations. Over time, our clinic became a go-to clinic for specialized trauma treatment, so while we continue our core commitment to the military-connected population, we provide care for trauma survivors from all walks of life.
Our commitment to diversity: Our team is built on the belief that diverse perspectives strengthen our clinical work. We are an intentionally inclusive practice that welcomes applicants and patients of every race, gender, SES, and background.
Our approach: If you are compelled by psychodynamic, humanistic, person-centered, family systems, or other individualized, depth-oriented approaches to care, you may have found the right spot to grow as a mental health professional. We value skilled, clinically- and empirically-informed integrative approaches that flex based on the needs, preferences, and cultural context(s) of the patient sitting in front of us. We emphasize helping patients to understand themselves and how they arrived where they are, develop a healthy relationship with themselves and others, and learn how they can change the contingencies in their lives, which can be generalized to novel situations in the post-treatment chapters of their lives. We find that these strategies, when done well, generate lasting change that is affirmed by the literature.
Our requirements: We are seeking a full-time (i.e., 20 or more hours per week), in-person mental health therapist to join our team.
- We welcome both independently licensed providers and pre-licensure supervisees of all credentialing types.
- We can work with you to determine if direct employment or contract work is the best fit for you.
- We provide high quality clinical supervision to post-graduate, pre-licensure therapists.
- Master’s degree or above and New Mexico licensure or pursuit of New Mexico licensure is required.
- We offer numerous benefits (e.g., medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous PTO; flexible schedules; malpractice insurance; individual and group supervision).
- Pay is dependent on licensure status and credentialling type and is a fee-for-service structure.
- The health & well-being of our clinicians are our top priority.
- Specializing in military, veteran, first responder, and other high stakes occupations
