Ongoing Radiology Locums | 1 Week/Month | Balanced Case Mix + IR
Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Radiologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity with a minimum commitment of 1 week per month. This is a 6-month contract with the option to extend, offering long-term consistency and scheduling flexibility.
This role provides a balanced mix of general diagnostic radiology and hands-on IR, making it ideal for radiologists who enjoy procedural work while maintaining a broad diagnostic skill set.
📅 Schedule & Commitment
Minimum requirement: 1 week per month
6-month initial contract, strong extension potential
Radiologist will read from the general worklist when not performing procedures or fluoroscopy
🧠 Case Mix & Workflow
Mix of inpatient, outpatient, and occasional STAT cases
Structured workflow with old-to-new reading order to prevent cherry-picking
Daily volume averages 50–70 studies
Approximately 50% cross-sectional imaging when not assigned to procedures
When scheduled for procedures, radiologists are expected to read cases between procedures as workflow allows
🩺 Procedures & IR Expectations
This is an IR-forward assignment with general diagnostic responsibilities.
Procedures include:
CT- and US-guided procedures
Abscess drainages and biopsies
Chest tube placements
Thyroid FNAs
Lumbar punctures and myelograms
Paracenteses and thoracenteses
Nephrostomy tube placement and exchanges
Suprapubic catheter placements
Lung, liver, and kidney biopsies
PICC lines, ports, and dialysis catheter placements
All fluoroscopy exams
Typical volume:
Approximately 12 IR procedures per week
Around 10 fluoroscopy cases per week
Preference is for strong IR involvement, with general diagnostic reading expected as part of the role.
